West End Lane, Esher
This extensive project took approximately 3 months to complete and included the design, landscaping and planting of both the rear and front gardens. Lighting and irrigation were also installed. The clients wanted a garden with clean simple lines that would best show off the planting and they also felt that a rear extension to the house didn’t integrate well with the rest of the building. By installing two hardwood decks on either side of the extension and then running bull-nosed steps across the whole face of house a more pleasing integrated feeling has been created. Bespoke clear-grade cedar fencing enhances the feeling of simplicity. The garden has a second entertainment area at the rear which is at a lower level to the rest of the garden and provides a more sheltered, secluded “getaway”. Bull-nosed steps mirroring those used at the main house drop down into this lower area. The lawns are edged with a line of paving which reduces the maintenance needs of the lawn and allows good mud-free access to the garden all year round. A resin-bonded aggregate driveway was installed in the front garden. This is an innovative solution which relies on the use of a fast curing resin adhesive to which gravel is bonded creating a clean, well defined surface which is both attractive and functional.
